Ben Dorain and Beinn an Dothaidh

Ascending Ben Dorain.

The two munros of Ben Dorain and Beinn an Dothaidh aren't a difficult walk, but the path gets quite wet in places and with the recent rain it was very muddy in places. We enjoyed the walk though and Ben Dorain must count as one of the most beautiful in Scotland when seen on approach from the South.

Beinn Dorain translates from Gaelic as 'hill of the streamlet' and there were certainly many streamlets yesterday! It is the subject of Duncan Ban MacIntyre's Gaelic poem, "Moladh Beinn Dòbhrainn" translated "In Praise of Ben Dorain"

Beinn an Dothaidh translates as 'hill of the scorching or singeing', but there was no evidence of any scorching yesterday!
