Walk Ben Challum Crianlarich Scotland

Walk Ben Challum, Crianlarich, Scotland.

Enjoyed a walk with my wife and daughter on Ben Challum near Crianlarich, Scotland on Tuesday 20th July 2010. We started at Kirkton Farm near Crianlarich, where the West Highland Way passes on the way to Tyndrum. The walk is a steady rise over the grassy slopes with a number of boggy areas, to the south top of Ben Challum, before a short descent and ascent to the summit itself.

I enjoyed the profusion of wild flowers and fungi, particularly now that the Scottish bluebell is in bloom. The views on a clear day are outstanding and we were lucky enough for the sky to clear at the top, showing us to be above some of the clouds! The Crianlarich hills and Ben Lui munros kept a skirt of cloud all day whilst the local corbetts and grahams were clear. There's something to be said for walking these lower hills when there's cloud about!
