Carn a' Mhaim Cairngorms National Park

Carn a' Mhaim, Cairngorms National Park.

Saturday 14th August 2010 saw us climbing Carn a' Mhaim, one of the lesser known hills in the Cairngorms National Park. The walk in from Linn of Dee past Derry Lodge is always a pleasure, following the route of the Lairig Ghru. If the Luibeg burn is in spate, a short detour can be taken to cross by the bridge upstream. We took our chances on Saturday, but did get feet slightly wet!

The path up Carn a' Mhaim offers an excellent route almost all the way to the summit, which provides super views of the Cairngorm giants to the West.

I continued to Ben Macdui before dropping down to Loch Etchachan, but a fine round can be made by a return to Derry Lodge over Derry Cairngorm.
